Steve.
Not sure which diagram you're looking at but I hope I can assist in giving you some info for which I have created a number of wiring diagrams from my own van build thread after I designe dand vuilt my own loom and sub looms.
The link for which is at the bottom below.
As I recall, the main thick brown +12v feed from the starter solenoid / battery goes to the fusebox where it is used for horn, lights etc but it also goes direct to the ignition switch (for positions 1, 2 & 3).
At Position 1, +12v is supplied to a light green & white wire for the radio etc.
At Position 2, +12v is supplied to a thick white wire which goes to the fusebox. Most of the ignition controlled fused supplies come from this wire, including the fuel pump when you wire one in.
At Position 3 which is the momentary 'cranking' flyback, +12v is supplied to the white & red wire which goes to the starter solenoid or starter relay, depending on the year. This is a momentary feed and also plays a role in supplying the fuel pump relay.
If you want to wire the pump in using the same circuit as Rover did on the Metro Turbo, then you'll need to tap into a few wires, including the oil pressure white & brown wire which means that in the event of an accident and the engine stops, the lack of oil pressure is actually used to stop the fuel pump.
There is some debate over whether this is optimal as arguably, in the event of an accident, the oil pressure white and brown wire could be severed and end up grounding out on the vehicle chassis, in which case the pump will keep running.
IMO, using the oil pressure wire is a good choice but it's up to you. It's how I wired mine in and I think the majority do the same. Wiring it direct with no cut off in the event of an accident is bloody dangerous IMO and is to be avoided.
I built my own loom for the van and the wiring diagrams for the whole job basically follow the Rover 1985 Mini loom in a Haynes Manual, but with the exceptions shown in the following diagrams. You can find my drawings in the link below, hosted by fellow TM member John :

and here's my fusebox map if its of use :

Good luck.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
