Recently I was asked by a fellow TM member if I could make up a steering column mount similar to the one I made for my car:

And here's what I came up with using some of the left over tube from my rear beam:

and here's a couple with my steering column fitted, I used one out of either a Mastero or Montego (I can never remember which is which)

The mount it's self is effectively a length of roll cage tubing precision machined (1/2 thou tolerance) to take two idler bearings, these allow the use of a standard 7/8th steering column or of course you could make a column out of 7/8 round bar or tube.

To go with this I've made up a few other bars and a punched & swagged plate as shown in the photos above.

Due to different dash bars being at different heights and depending where you want the steering wheel you may need to adjust some of the notching.

If members are interested I am willing to make up a batch of these but to justify the cost and effort of making them I'd be looking to make about 5 or 6 and at a cost of £60 each including postage within the UK.

At the moment I'm just gauging interest but what are peoples initial thoughts?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

So far I've had three people interested, which really isn't enough to justify making up a batch, so is any one else interested?

I think it's a case of there only of use to people who are half way through there build as it needs welding and painting.

I've put it on 16V but no real joy there.

Pretty much, on my car I've used a steering column out of a mastero / montego as it's slighty longer and has 2 UJs as standard, but there's no reason a length of 5/8 rod and some UJs wouldn't work.
