The bush is a thinwalled one, often composite steel/bronze (depends on the supplier) but because it's thin walled, it gets "squashed" when it's pressed in so the hole gets smaller.

So they don't bother to try and make the hole the right size, they just accept it will be slightly too small when the bush is pressed in so it needs to be reamed.

A reamer is a tool that will enlarge a hole to an exact size but only if the hole is pretty close already. It's not a drill but a tool for taking small amounts of metal away.

Do a search on eBay for "reamer" (spelt right) and you will see what one looks like.

To do the job properly on a radius arm, you need a special (or modified standard) one to line it up with the needle roller bearing the other end, or you will ream the hole out of parallel to the other bearing.

You also need the correct size which I can't remember......

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???
