Force Racing ICT Dept Manager Miglia Turbo Am frum Yokshyer tha noes!

Chaps a mate of mine is having trouble with his motor, he recently got his scooby back on the road after a long story (in a nut shell someone borrowed and crashed it) now hes back on the road car and wont run properly. Hes tried explaining the issue to me but ive never even looked under the bonnet of one. There are also some sensor errors on the dash. One about the idle sensor? He says there is couple of splodges of oil here and there in the engine bay. I recon rings?

Long shot i know but TM has its wide variety of knowledge.

Any help appriciated.

Mike

He needs to get on scoobynet or the like to do some research!
Idle problems can just be the plug not quite in right or something damaged in the smash thats not been repaired?.
Alot depends on its age, mine ran rough until i replaced a coilpack (it had one on each plug) later models had them on top of the engine and they were more reliable..
Its a while since i sold mine so not much help, sorry!

What year is it?
On Mine (the classic model, GC8 Chassis) you can connect two wires underneath the dash together to put the ECU into self-check mode. You then perform a brief procedure and will get flashes/pulses of the 'Check Engine Light' which will tell you what the error code is and therefore help a lot with diagnostics as you can find out easily what parts/sensors are flashing up as errors.
There is an "Idle Air Control Solenoid Valve" on the EJ20 engine, however without more info on ECU error codes and a year/engine type, along with more information on these "Oil Splodges" it's hard to even hazard a guess.....
*oh well*

DTCs would be good if new enough.
But from what you say - have you done a compression test?
