hello guys not been on for a while but here is the latest on the new turbo/engine project on my cinquecento turbo!

Well for starters she's up and running with a new trick setup *happy*
This setup involves using the Punto 75 head and inlet manifold (onto my exsisting 75 bottom end so ive effectivley now got a full 75 engine) but with a twist. The 75 head has been ported and already has bigger valves than the old 11088cc head i had before and the inlet is miles better for flow than the SPI unit. But the twist is its still SPI!! My SPI TB with uprated 40mm butterfly sit's ontop of the MPI manifold and the O.E 1108cc ECU simply controls the fueling as normal through the SPI injector while off boost being supplied with 1 bar off fuel pressure, and by doing this on the MPI maniofld the fuel distribution to all four cylinders is hugley improved, and improved again by having no servo take off on number 4 cylinder!
But when the turbo starts to come onto boost the Aquamist MF2 i had controlling the cossy injector before now controlls the four MPI injectors (in batched injection form) meaning enough fuel on stock injecotrs for around 150bhp, the mpi injectors recieve 3.5bar of fuel pressure to ensure the correct spray pattern! As the boost rises to 15psi the O.E injector will almost stop injecting due too the pressure equaling out.
If while on the rolling road i need more fuel the fuel pressure can be raized on the SPI injecotor to give an additional 70bhp's worth off fuel.

Also i now have the J and S Ultrasafegaurd ingnition controller fitted running off a knock sensor fitted on the centre off the block so if a problem accours the timming can be retardered and readvanced by that!

Now the GT17...........you will remember the problem that i had with the smokeing, well i tried a few things before i sent it back to make sure my setup wasnt causing it such as -

fitted crank case breather.
Fitted a new sump with a more upwards facing return angle.
new return pipe.
Refited the oil cooler.

But although it helped it didnt stop it alltogether *frown*

So it went back for a new aftermarket oil seal and a larger diameter return pipe from the turbo as he felt it was far to small.

So i started it up yesterday and ran it for an hour or so around my area and there hasnt been a hint off smoke or oil leaking from the turbine housing! so lets hope that cured it!, also on the test run a genatly brought th car onto around 2-3psi off boost and the injector light came on the MF2 and started injecting fuel MPI!! very happy. Im running it carefully this week and then its off to Nobles next week for a setup *happy*

BTW i went for another decomp plate *blush* i cannot afford pistons and this time ive gone for a 1.5mm copper item, i measured the combustion chambers/ psiton dish. compressed head gasket/ deck hight and the 1.5mm decomp plate and this gives me a C/R off 8.5:1 so im happy

here are a few pics off the new GT17 equiped MPI/SPI 75 engine -

It will be interesting to see the difference in power and IAT's :)

Hello guys

right ive finished my new setup on the cinq using the new turbo and fueling setup and today i visited Nobles again for the full setup to see how she went on with the gt17 turbo!

156.2bhp @ 6534rpm

145.2lb/sf of torque @ 4644rpm

@ 14psi

This is what the boost is set at for the road but Nobles did a second run at 18psi to see what she was pulling and the results where as follows -

167bhp/160lb/sf

Here is the new engine spec used to achieve this goal -

Punto 75 engine
Garrett GT1752 turbo 0.47 turbine/053 compressor (mated with my GT15 bearing housing using the GT17 shaft etc)
2" turbo back exhaust
Aquamist MF2
75 inlet manifold mated with tricker 40mm TB with standard SPI injecotor controlled by stock ecu for off boost fueling.
4 volvo MPI injecotors controlled by the MF2 for "on boost MPI" fueling.
75 cam and head (ported)
Adjustable cam pulley
Externally mounted HKS mushroom air filter
GT turbo intercooler
Mandral bend boost pipes
Splitfire 8MM h/t leads and EON1 plugs
Greddy boost controller
Turbosmart fuel cut defender
1.5mm Copper decomp plate (exactly 8.5:1 c/r)
Payen head gasket

I have to say this is the setup for turbo cinqs, the best part about my figures is they are down by about 20bhp because of the GT intercooler and a hugley retrictive throttle bob inlet! so that would have been roughly 175bhp!
On the road it so much better, all the low end torque spikes have gone so the bad wheel spin has gone and the turbo is so progressive! there is a steady increase in torque upto 3000rpm and then the torque starts to rocket up as the power climbs rapidly.
The needle flys round the clock past 100mph to fast for comfort and the top end power is awsome, its still making the full 156bhp right upto 7000rpm before it drops off so in gear acceleration is rapid.

This is one hell off a quick car haha

all the sleepless nights and broken knuckles etc have paid off im over the moon with the little monster.

thanks

jason

I'm sorry, but you just won't fit in round here. You can't finish your car that quickly and have everything working! That would take years for one of us *hehe!*

Well done, that's really good power for a shoe box *wink*
