Having a deep read into the yellow bible, specifically the flow figures for carburettors.

Just a quick theory question on the 48IDA vs the 45DCOE. When both carbs are fitted with 38mm chokes the IDA flows over 50 CFM per barrel more than the DCOE

Is this purely because it's in a downdraft position or is it a better design than the DCOE?

48 is bigger than 45 to start, and i know what youre getting at (i.e. bothe have 38 chokes) but rather than start a huge fluid dynamics discussion, im just going to say that the ida is better lol
