I think you only hook up two out of three. One goes to the ignition light; another to switched +. Maybe this helps: http://westfield-world.com/daihatsu_alternator.html. Plug looks different, but basics are the same. New ones have a little white sticker in the shape of the actual socket with P-IL or some thing like that. 1963 Cooper

Ok so the two brown wires that join as at the starter motor. One will go to terminal B and the other (A) is wired to the middle point I have labelled (2).

in turn short them to ground through a bulb, (that way you wont fry anything) one will light the dash bulb and one won't

I get that bit just fine Joe, but what I'm unsure about is the fact that BOTH the larger brown wires seem to be live constantly, so the ignition switched live would be on constantly. Doesn't this risk frying something? Mr. Prawn, the friendly Crustacean- slowly making steps towards forced induction. |

sorry to dig up an old post but i have the same issue with my alternator wiring. I have my big battery feed wire, lamp wire and another permanent live, does this mean i need to run a new ign live from somewhere or will it be ok to connect my permanent live to the connection marked "IG" on alternator? -MINI CLUBMAN 1380 TURBO- |
