We had another session on the engine dyno this morning. The engine/cylinder head etc are exactly as tested previously with the RE13 profile cam - no changes apart from the camshaft, which is a custom grind for this head - biased towards the hillclimber/sprint/trackday end of the market. Still a pussycat with a nice smooth tickover at 950rpm, pulled full throttle at 2000rpm.

As you can see by the curves the the RE13 is a very good cam up to 5000rpm and it does hang on well at the top end, the custom grind comes on as you would expect and pushes the powerband circa 1000-1200rpm higher than the RE13 - down to longer duration. Peak torque stays the same it just moves up and down the rev range dependant on duration - you can't have what isn't there to be had!

The other curve is the race 5 port from the same engine dyno v the racier cam in the 7 port.

We'll be offering the cam as part of the options on the 7 port, specific to SC again.

This engine is now going in my "new" car - bring on the rolling road days!

That looks good, but completly differnt to the HRE 7-port, all much higher up the rev range.

Of course, all dyno/RRs are not comparable, be good to see them both at a shoot out.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

yes , i agree wil , we need to see pauls original dyno sheet, for the detail ,so we can compare them all?

edited to add

,comparing 2 different dynos ,especially an engine dyno and chassis dyno is a bit of an oxymoron.

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

I love the RE13 torque, as I have stated before. The race cam gives what looks like a totally different engine, but deffo good for track applications.

I agree as a road motor the RE13 will be stunning with this head set up - but of the calls we have fielded over the interest in the head - the big number at the end is what people want to see. It'll still be supremely driveable compared to a race cammed 5 port for sure and on shortish gearing will be pretty electric. I'm putting it in the car in this spec so will report back what its like.

Comparing figures - all I'll say is the engine dyno is a true ex F1 unit calibrated to the nth degree for over 600hp - no "bs" or massive corrective flywheel factors we only deal in real figures - hence why this car will be going to rolling road days for comparative purposes - the engine dyno figures are here for everyone to see as will the charts from the rollers when it makes an appearance - should be interesting to compare!
