Hey guys,

im looking at buying a a mini with none of the above, i dont have direct access to a trailer or vehicle with a tow bar. i was wondering if it is legal to tow a car with rope/spring bar on the roads? it does brake and all electrics work

Cheers

No it's not legal unfortunately. I would suggest you beg, borrow, steal or in the worst case hire a tow vehicle or pay someone to move it.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I wouldn't tow a car 150 miles anyway. 30 miles back from the rolling road was painful and slow enough for me!

you can tow up to the mam of your tow car. you only need to take the extra test to tow 'over weight' trailers

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

That's a common misconception Col.

Everybody gets Cat B when they pass there test.

B - As category B but with a trailer weighing more than 750 kg. The total weight of the vehicle and the trailer together can’t weigh more than 3,500 kg. The weight of the trailer, when fully loaded, can’t weigh more than the unladen weight of the vehicle
