Hi everyone,
Im currently converting my a series 998 to megajolt ignition, and ive realised my HS2 manifold doesnt have a vacuum hole.
I had a thought to run it temporarily just on the edis module and then drill and tap a hole in my current manifold then stick a bit of pipe and hook up the vacuum later. How driveable is it with no megajolt plugged in?
Ive also got a hif44 in my shed, but no manifold or air box. Would it be a better idea to source those and chuck them on to get it running better?
Cheers,
Joe

It won't run well with out the megajolt, I'd just leave the dizzy in until you have everything. You could always drill and tap the manifold for a threaded take off.

Without the Megajolt, the EDIS will just run at a fixed advance (10 degrees IIRC) which is fine for testing and setting up the trigger wheel but not for driving.

Fixed advance is what's on my lawnmower :)

As Andy says, why not just drill/tap your existing manifold ???

If you don't want to take it off to drill (I would take it off to avoid swarf getting inside) doesn't it have a blanked servo connection, or an in-use connection, that you could adapt ???

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

I was thinking of drilling and retapping the manifold, and id defs take the manifold off to drill.
Its the original manifold so has no take offs for anything.
And i did think to reinstall the dizzy but ive already hammered a welsh plug in the dizzy hole. God damn hindsight is a bitch.

Does it not have a vac advance take off? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought this can be used if NA.

you could get away with that i think, there will be no ( or little) vacuum at idle though but at part throttle there will

as said above you will need to drill and tap your manifold, pop down to your local car spares and get a small bleed nipple, if you have an ali manifold you should be able to just drill a hole then screw that in with a little loctite

I think ill have a crack at drilling the manifold tomoro. Its the original cast iron one, the type that has the exhaust cast in one piece. But that got chopped off and binned ages ago.
If i fuck it ive got a few more i can chuck on. All early ones though.
