just about to give the clubby estate a fresh coat of paint - not looking for a concourse job, just a freshen up.

We're going to paint the engine bay and the outside and also the inside of the new rear doors. Colour is applejack green - we were thinking 2litres would be enough 2-pack?

cheers

Rob

thats sounds about right rob . i always get a it more as i worry about running out before im finished. handy for future touch ups as well. if it was me id be tempted to go for 3. saying that i do put more on than i need to.

i'd normally go down that route but i'm doing this in a budget so don't want to spend any more than i have to!

i use aprox 2 litres on saloons, minus the roof. 'some' people accuse my of getting the paint on too thick. if you look at my cars in 'show us yours' they come out decent. i see it as plenty of paint leaves plenty to cut back to get a nice finish.

some will say 2 lites is too much for a saloon minus roof, it works for me, everybody has different techniques.

are you doing the engine bay and inside of doors seaparate from the main spraying? if so it may be worth getting two litres and seeing how far it goes?

Is that 2 litres of colour without hardener and thinners (plus a bit of 'Rocket' accelerater if you're spraying at home in this weather) ?

If so, I'd say 2 ltrs of paint is spot on if you're not painting the underside and the whole of the interior.

Your final amount will be more than this when you add the hardener and thinners but depends on what your paint suppliers recommended ratio is.

Would be nice to see some before and after shots !

Good luck Rob.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

i'm looking at 2 litres of colour before any thinners, hardener etc

i'll get some photos up for you all shortly - the car is stripped down ready for the prep at the moment

I have just sprayed mine in old English white, considering it was initialy black I have not got through 1 litre of paint and all I have left to do is the main body less the roof. Doors, bonnet, flip front and boot lid all done.

The mix ratio is 2:1:1 all in all when mixed you will have 4 litres of product to use for a mini that is enough to do inside and out. So you have leeway to touch up and rework any mistake.

I never buy less than 2lts unless doing panel work.

One last I use clear over base which is a lot thinner than 2K so I am sure you will have no coverage issues
