Theres a thread somewhere outlining what is needed to convert an NA carb to turbo FI use. There is also a thread discussing the necessity for a restrictor ring (38mm, I think)

Heres the restrictor ring thread:

i have converted a carb, the restrictor should be in the plenum it is almost critical imo although it will start and idle without either ( converted carb / restrictor)

is it getting enough fuel,
whats the timing doing,
if it starts but not idle is the idle screw set right,
whats the fuel pressure set to

ok, im not using a metro plenum! iv modified one off a renault maybe thats causing me some trouble? i havnt touched the timing yet, my aim was to get it running first then advance it. As for fuel pressure, the regulator im using is a second hand one, i was told it was set correct so i thaught maybe it would be some where near right? i forgot to mention when the engine fires up it will rev but only for a few seconds befor cutting out.

You need the retrictor ring in the plenum and the fuel pressure needs to be set to 3.5 psi

The restrictor ring is not essential. But you will have one hell of a ballache trying to get enough fuel into it and getting it to run right without it !!!

Believe me...I know.

when you say what is pressuring the float bowl are you refering to the pipe that increases the fuel with the boost? there is a fitting on the plenum im using to connect the pipe to, so that should work i think?

Why are you causing yourself so much grief when Metro plenums are cheap and easy to source?

Just use an original plenum,l unless you have detailed knowledge on how the thing works.

Which by asking here, clearly you dont.

And there are two ports applying boost to the float bowl, one internal, and one external.

if you search around the forum, for diy plenums, i think you will find with exception to 1 i can think of all have conceded and gone for a metty plenum.
the one that worked is a well thought out posh copy of the metty plenum
in other words there is a cheap way and expensive way both give the same result its not rocket science
