I was driving home the other day in the 3rd lane as you do, then my turbo stopped so no humf, but still drove. Got home turned off then turned on, then it was back to normal. The managment light did not come, so my understanding is that this would not be registered as a fault on the computer?
Driving it today, it does not seem as responsive a little sluggish.
I have spoken to Audi who have suggested the turdo unit is on its way out.
Does anyone have any suggestions

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

I had the same problem in a 1.9tdi octavia. turbo was on it's way.

Not all faults result in a management light, use vag-com to read your ecu error codes. It showed a cam position sensor error on my a4, but no error light on the dash.

keith t had a similar issue with his T5 van - I think it was something to do with the variable vane thingamy jig in the turbo seizing up allowing overboosting - he got advised to just give it a good boot now and again to clear it out; it seemed to clear after the ignition was switch off as well

just a thought

egr is a favourite, remove, clean, and refit, but blocking the vacuum line that actuates it, its an emissions device and your better without. assuming your engine has the vac-operated egr. (struggle to keep track of VAG engien changes)

other potential is an end tank blowing off the intercooler, or as others have said turbo / vanes. but if you regualrly drive in teh outside lane as you ought to do in that lane, then they shouldnt be seased, as hard driving keeps it all clean.

Hi

My dad has just had this happen to him. If he was putting load on the engine, i.e. accelerating harder than usual the turbo would just stop but he could carry on at 50 ish and pull over.

He could then stop, turn the car on and off and carry on with the turbo working again. They had the diagnostic kit run on his car and it was coming up with overboost.

It dont it about 20 times and he had the turbo changed a couple of days ago which seems to have stopped it.

Its an Octavia 2.0tdi.

Cheers

Jon

well, i popped back to my mechanic, droped it on the diagnositics, no turbo fault recorded, so taking to a turbo place today for a diagnostics, rather pay £35 than a couple of K for a new engine, so will let you know the outcome. Rec turbo £325 + £125 to fit, not bad i think.

well, they have said my turbo intercooler pipe has at some point come off and being fixed with silicone, this may have contributed to the turbo going, however the is fucked. £275 for turbo and 125 to fit + a new turbo intercooler pipe. Nice!!!
