I remember reading on the manchester minis website and artical about clutches by Turbo Dave mentioned reversing the spring?

Are the springs vital to the functioning of the clutch? as i dont have the plate that the spring mounts onto.

+ Does anyone have a spring plate/hook thing that goes on the slave cylinder?

It works fine without one,the plate goes on the bleed nipple

Mine has worked without one for ages now...


but only coz I've lost the spring in my transit van!

The return spring is just there to pull the clutch arm back all the way to the stop (bolt & lock nut on cover) so the release bearing is clear of the diaphram.

I have spent this evening putting my clutch together - all seems fine.

just one more question - is there any difference between the arms that go into the slave cylinder? Im using the arm off my verto clutch onto my new pre verto set up and the slave cylinder seems to be bottoming out as it sits at the momemnt with no fluid in. Is this normal?

I can remember years ago having a arm bent up the garage with oxy acet,as the clutch wouldn't release fully (not enough push)

Don't now why though..mind u and adjustable length arm would be ok

remember now it was cus I couldn't have a pipe with mini thread one end and metro thread other end so changed the cylinder.
