I'm slowly but surely making some progress with my Supercharged MPI.

Following advice from Andy500, I'm looking to install a MAP sensor - just wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

I was gonna plump for one of these:

Marelli MAP sensor, 250 KPa
Marelli MAP sensor, 300 KPa
Delphi MAP sensor, 300 KPa

Really just because they are listed on the Emerald web site.

The Delphi one is the cheapest @ £50.

Any suggestions/observations are most welcome.

Marelli ones are pretty standard and work OK. Can be bought cheaper than Emerald. Also work out what your max boost is and buy one to suit, the 1 bar ones are much cheaper (standard Sierra Cosworth)

Coolio - I'm gonna see what prices the local autofactors come up with.

Determined to get the MPI running properly this summer.

local motorfactors will likely be dear. Some sensors could be found second hand for little money.

How much positive pressure do you intend to use ?

I'm looking at running no more than 0.6 bar.

I take it there wouldn't be any issues if I bought a 3 bar MAP and never got anywhere near the 3 bar?

Other than it being a waste of money. See post above.

Ahh..but how much is he looking for postage ?? lol

I think Ive a Marelli 2.5bar one here too.

Or pretty much any turbocharged car will have one that will do. Be it Cossie, Subaru, etc

Don't suppose you're looking to sell it......

What is the point of a 2.5 bar MAP when you are only running 0.6 bar?

Or am I wasting my typing fingers, I think I am..................

Another thing if you are shopping around is be careful how they are described ie, the standard Cossie one is often referred to as a 2 bar sensor although it will only measure up to 1bar boost because it's working range is 0 bar(abs) ie, engine vacuum to 2 bar(abs) ie, 1 bar boost.
So make sure you know if they are being advertised as maximum boost or working range.
Hope that makes sense.....

Oddly...I seem to have two beside me. One must be a std Cossie one.
I'd guess thats 1 bar pos, and 1.5bar positive for Cossie and Esc Cossie respectively.

They both use a typical 3 pin mini timer plug.

Or I'm sure I'd have an old Subaru one which will have wires. They top out at about 1.17bar ( positive pressure )

You're not wasting you typing fingers, as previously mentioned - it's down to cost.....

If I can get a 2.5 bar MAP sensor cheaper than one thats closer to my operational limits, surely it makes sense to plump for the cheaper option? Maybe it's just me being the stereotypical tight-arsed Scottish person that I am.... I'm also a student on a very, very tight budget.

Thanks for the heads up - I'll bear that in mind.

How much cheaper than £8.50 do you want, considering you were going to spend £50 at Emerald???????

£8.50 would be great, but as it's an open auction - you never know what the end price will be.

Of course I'm gonna bid on it, and if I get it for £8.50 that's top stuff - if I don't win then I'll need to look at alternatives.

**Update**
MAP sensor ended up going for £17.50.
