so far on my mini build to remove weight

cut out the rear seat overhang and both door bins,
fitted polycarb windows thanks to MARKGTT,
removed the rear shelf and replace with light weight swaged alloy,
all sound deadening has now gone
carpets removed,
alloy 4 pot calipers and 7.5 discs
spare wheels gone,
removed dashboard,
fitted bucketseats,

i now got a few more questions what else can i get weight out of on the cheap,

and also what light weight seats are there i have searched all over the internet and only found expensive one that are 400 for one seat!

Fit ally skins to your doors, remove the winder mechanism and cut the inner skin out. That was the biggest single weight loss of mine.

Basically look at everything non structural and decide whether it is needed to support or hold anything. If it isn't remove it or drill it.

Rob H has even drilled holes in the door hinges.

It gets obsessive.

I'm now fabricating a rear beam from scratch for my car, because all the usual offerings seem way to heavy.

The heater weighs 5KG and that's without hoses and coolant.

EDIT:I cut out the frame for the head lining on my car and that was 1KG by itself

Also - make sure you have a good poo before you go anywhere, maybe shave too.

reason i asked about how do i remove the bonnet braces was because the bonnet stand is attached to it as well as hinge mounts so i guess i leave about a inch from these?

It doesn't stop there, I've found plenty more things to drill, as Mr Austin once told me, you have to look at every item on the car and ask yourself how can I make it lighter.

Fit an aluminium head.

Fit a shorter exhaust system which exits at side of car.

Fit alloy wheels.

Fit a smaller petrol tank/only ever part fill petrol tank.

I wouldn't remove the bracing from the bonnet, as the edges tend to flare out and catch the wings. You're better off fitting a fibreglass bonnet.

824g saved there alone.

Denso alternator, drilled subframes, grind off unecessary metal off box/block/hubs etc. There is a great range of cheap ways to reduce mass on this site if you search.
