Dear Ebay, (EXPENSIVE-BULLYING-ARROGANT-YOBBS)

PLEASE NOTE BEFORE YOU SEND ME AN AUTOMATIC RESPONSE WHICH HAS NO RELATION TO THE CONTENT OF MY LETTER THINK AGAIN AND SEND A WRITTEN RESPONSE!

I have recently received you final value fee from selling item number 190388806183 Pace Charge cooler. At first I thought there had been an error on your side. £35.34 had been charged to my account which is ridiculously expensive for selling a car park worth £350. I contacted your office by phone today and yes it was confirmed you were not overcharging me. However, it was that your fees are just greedy.

My first question why has ebay become so greedy? I joined ebay in 2004 where I have been a loyal ebayer and always paid my fees. My second question is this, how on earth is the final value fee less for selling a car worth £1200?, as I have done previously with you.

I appreciate there must be a final value fee, if there is a cut of price when selling cars; then why is there no cut off fee for selling car parts?

Surely a more reasonable amount would be a cut of at around £15 for items under £500. For this reason I have sent you a fair payment for the final fee of £15.34 and hope that this concludes the matter.

Finally, a suggestion to take on board! if you wish to keep your customers then I would suggest introducing new cut off fees (Lower and not higher!) and don’t take for granted; yes although ebay is now fully established company. You will loose customers if you keep charging these extortionate charges.

Yours in anticipation

Mr C Price (Miniturb0)

P.s do not refer me to your terms and conditions as these have been amended considerably 2004. Please confirm the remainder of the balance has been written off and quite frankly that ebay are simply greedy fuckers.

I would remove any swearing language before you send it as otherwise they will just file it directly in the bin. If you wish to be take seriously you need to write to them in a serious matter.

For what its worth I agree that its a bit of a skank charging you that much.

I look forward to receiving the chargecooler though!

I was having the very same discussion with my Dad before. I sold some mountain bike parts for £300 & they charged me £30, then paypal took their cut ! It really isn't worth selling on ebay anymore imo.
Surely they'll start losing sellers if they keep going like this ?
Sheer greed.

I have personally given up selling stuff as an auction on ebay. I just do a 10 day listing.
I may be wrong, but it seems cheaper lol

The thing is that your stuff will sell for far more on eBay than any other auction site because of the huge exposure you get.

Even after the fees, you will still have more cash in your pocket.

ebay is a nightmare. Stopped selling unless I need a wide audience. Instead I just sell through gumtree and the local adtrader.

i have listed cars on ebay as classified for a silly low price, and listed clearly what i wanted for it and where else it was advertised, when it sells, up the fook out the price on ebay so know one tries to buy it or whatever

worked well and only 2quid or so listing fees( or what ever it was)

also figured out that if you will deliver the car they will pay alot more obviously involves alot of phone conversations and emailed photos aswell as a chase car ( alot of fun *wink*) but it was well worth the trouble

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

NEVER GOING TO BELIVE THIS, I GOT MY MONEY BACK LOL!!! READ......

Hello Christopher,

Thank you for contacting us with regard to the high fees that has been
charged on your account.

After reviewing your account, I can confirm that you have sold "PACE
CHARGECOOLER 190388806183" for which you were charged the following
fees:

Final Value fee £34.98
Picture fee £0.36

I understand your concern regarding the Final Value Fee charged to your
for selling this item. As a private seller, when you list any item in
Auction Style Format, Final Value Fee is charged @ 10% of the final sale
price upto a maximum of £40.00 when your item ends with a winning
bidder. As your item ended with a winning bid of £350.00, you were
charged 10% (£34.98) as the Final Value Fee for this item. Also, I would
like to inform that from 12th of March, 2009 the fee structure has
changed.

For a full list of all eBay fees please copy this link into a new
browser window:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html

Furthermore, the reason why you are only charged a Final Value Fee of
£20.00 for selling a car at £1200.00 and £35.00 for selling a 'car park'
at £350.00 is that Final Value Fee is charged differently based on the
category and the format in which the item is listed. When you list an
item in motors category. A Final Value Fee is calculated based on the
following slab:

£0.01 - £1,999.99: £20.00
£2,000.00 - £3,499.99: 1.00%
£3,500.00 and above: £35.00
Classified Ad: No FVF applies.

Also, with regard to your suggestion about 'cut off', I would like to
inform you that eBay does have that kind of fee structure for items that
are listed in Buy It Now format. When you list your item with Buy it Now
you are charged Final Value Fee according to below mentioned slab.

£0.99 = £49.99
9.9% of the amount of the final selling price up to £49.99

£50.00 - £599.99
9.9% of the initial £49.99 (£4.95) + 5.9%of the remaining balance of
the final selling price

£600.00 or more
9.9% of the initial £49.99 (£4.95) + 5.9% of the initial £50.00 -
£599.99 (£32.45) + 1.9% of the remaining balance of the final selling
price.

If you would have listed the same item in the Buy It Now/Fixed Price
format, then you would be charged a Final Value Fee of £22.65 (£4.95 +
£17.70).

However, if you would like eBay to consider your idea and proposal
further, please use our "Sending Suggestions to eBay" page by copying
the following link into a new browser window:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/account/suggestions.html

Lastly, looking into your case, I've credited £20.00 to your account as
a one time exception and due to this credit, there is no due balance on
your account. You can check this credit posted to your account by
following these steps. You will see this credit as "Invoice Credit (VAT
will not be included)".

1. Log into My eBay.
2. Click "Seller Account" under "My Account".
3. Click on "account activity" under "My Seller Account Summary" to view
the fees charged on your account.
4. Expand the display of your account status page. {To do this, use the
"Customise view" on the right hand side of the page. Change the display
to "Specify range (up to 4 months)" and enter the "From" date and if
required "to" date and then click on the "Apply" button. All the billing
activities will be displayed during that time period.}
5. Click on the "Item" link above the list of items on the account
status page to see the fees charged for a particular item.

The credit of fees will be shown with a minus (-) sign in front of the
amount.

I hope that I've explained everything clearly. If you need any more
information please get in touch.

Kind regards,

Aubrey Charlston
