It may be a bit on the large side. Depends on the exhaust housing size anything bigger than a .49 and it will never spool. The cold side is usually a .42 cover with a 60 trim wheel again which maybe on the large size depending on your application. IMO the rs turbo t3 or a more modern turbo would be a better option. |

Ahh i see, i had been told it was slightly smaller than the T3, yet larger than the T2, however considering its from a 2.0 engine i guess that would make sence.

It would probably work fine. Its a T25 flange with a semi-small housing...cant rem what size.

Im looking for about 170 - 180 bhp so i dotnt think i really need to do anything unsual with the setup, a 1293 with a low Cr and intercooler running a T3 should be enough to achive those goals shouldnt it?

I had a shitty old Cossie based T3 on my 1293, and it made full boost ( 22psi ) at 4500rpm with a 0.36 turbine housing. The T28 with the smaller T25 flange and similar compressor should spool much earlier. Or is the GTIR GT28 vastly different that that on the 200sx ? 9.85 @ 145mph

Rich good luck... you will need to put allot more thought in than what you have detailed above, then maybe at 20 psi + and don’t expect it to be driveable on the road or last long between rebuilds. |

In which case could you shead some light for me? I was origionaly going to turbo a 1275 engine but have been offered a metro turbo lump for decent money. I was thinking along the lines of 1293 with 18cc dished pistons, head work done, avonbar camshaft, decent size intercooler and dump valve, then crank the boost upto 15 to 20 psi. Although i have been now looking into the GT17 turbo as a replacement. Its going to be for a fast road, but still a daily driver!

for a daily driver i would stick to 120 / 140 at the most and say 10 psi.

I just cant see one spooling on an a-series tbo not within any reasonable powerband on your average 5port. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Cam is a good choice and a GT17 seems to be the turbo of choice atm. with this kind of power you need to start thinking about mappable ignition too, have a good read on this site there are some great post designed for new members. Thats brilliant thanks, however wouldi not be able to build up the engine like that then have an in car boost controller, so say 10psi when driving about then whack it upto 15 or 20 for trackday use? yeah you can do, but the lower the CR the more slugish the car will be off boost so not ideal for a daily - but i guess its a good compromise. This is how i use mine (10 psi for road and track 18 psi for the quarter mile) but i dont use it for the daily commute works well for a fun weekend car.

Im in Newcastle, that would be perfect. I have a guy that works on the same bussiness park that my dads company is based, and he specialises in mini resorations, which is where im looking at getting my metro from. He has a Metro Turbo, with some modifications to the engine, producing 153 break, but unfortunatly its not road legal yet so i could have a drive, but if theres anyone local running a turbo mini i would apriciate it massivly!

The Pulsar turbo is far better suited for say a 1.6, 1.8, 2.0. Got A GTM With A Honda In the Back, and huge Nitrous bottle where the passenger seat should be when racing!
