Mk 1 Golf rads are a very popular choice here in SA and they do work well, but Ive only ever seen them fitted to clubbies, you should have enough space with the spaced out front though.

No pictures I'm afraid just an update. I have been doing the exhaust and rear brakes/handbrake recently, still waiting on fuel tank but should be this week.

I've decided I'm going to aim to take the car to castle Combe at the end of September so gives me just under 4 months which should be do able!

Hopefully get some good motivation

Actually, having just been out, rotated my starter motor, and chopped around the front a bit, I will struggle to get one of those in. Will stick with the MPI for the mo as it seems to be up to the job.

Been buying lots if little things in preparation of big progress.... I hope.

High torque starter for added bling and clearance.

Not sure a cbr 1000 rad fan will be big enough but it was dirt cheap.

Few bits mounted up on the back if the bulkhead wiring loom goes through below the cross member behind the water pump so nice and concealed.

Fuel pump, large bore hose and filter for gravity feed to the pump. Will mount that on the rear beam so it's just below the bottom of the tank.

Modified brace bar to clear intercooler and made it stronger at the top

Got lots if fittings and fuel pipe too so more progress soon.

Probably not! Although I haven't turned it on yet they do puff out quite abit of air. I will probably buy a bigger one though. Until I get the coil pack and oil filter In there I won't know how much space I have

Thanks turbo this

I wonder if I put that fan inside on the bulkhead it would suck heat off the turbo box and into the car? Lol

Found a better fan! The cbr1000 has two fans one big and one small! So I bought the big one too. They both chuck out a massive amount of air, very impressive. And £35 for the pair brand new off eBay.

Made some brackets at work for the fans and coilpack/rad

Top rad hose done too

Love the top bracket holding the coil pack. Good use of space on this build.

Its coming together now, how close is the bottom of the fan blades to the radiator? Dont forget as your rad is mounted to the subframe, as the engine tilts backwards it will push the bottom of the fans into the rad slightly. Just make sure you have the clearance.

If you look closely jack you'll see the coilpack bracket also mounts the top of the rad so the rad will pivot with the engine maintaining the fan gap. But I got about 5mm

Custard, are you sure you have a girlfriend still?

Your level of fabrication and attention to detail and clever ideas has just gone off the scale since we used to mess about with the minis together 5 years ago!

Very very impressed mate, can't wait to see this at Castle Combe :)
