O/T - Pond

Something completely different, a couple of weeks ago I decided to finish the second half of my pond (actually wifey said finish it or fill it in).

I had dug it out about 4 years ago and lined it with concrete but never got around to putting the PVC liner in.

So today,







First level filling at the moment....

The overgrown on on the left is actually the same size and depth believe it or not....

The reason for my sudden enthusiasm to finish a project is a couple of weeks ago, when cleaning out the rotting leaves etc. in the bottom of the unfinished pond, I found these,



Along with smooth and palmate species.

But I've never had the Great Crested ones before...

They are legally protected probably even more than Barn Owls so I decided it was time to finish the un-finished part of the pond to stop them getting trapped down in the un-finished hole.

They are truely beautifull creatures.

Now I have to add certain plants in the pond and a log pile nearby for them to breed successfully
