An old boy came wandering down my drive this morning and asked "...are you the bloke that does up Minis ?"

Basically the local gargage where he has his car serviced has seen me working on a couple when they've been doing drop-offs and told the old boy about me so he hunted me down :)

The reason he hunted me down is because he has a '67 Saloon and a '68 Traveller (the one with the wood) which he has dry stored for the last 10 years with the intention of putting back on the road (one was his son's and one his daughter's but his son has set up a new business and hasn't the time to help him any more) and he's looking to get rid of them.

He's going to eBay them soon and is shrewd enough to realise their value even if just from the tax exempt status, but I'm going to look at them next weekend.

Apparantly the Traveller has some fairly significant body kit (sounds absolutely hideous from his description) but the saloon is absolutely standard.

Thoughts ???

Realistic values ???

Depends so much on condition I'd wait till i'd seen them in the flesh (or in our case) photos before estimating the price.
Standard sallon could be worth a bit, remember to get the chassis numbers so you can check exactly what it is.

Here for the craic..

Yes, I'll take photos.

If he's telling the truth the saloon is without rot and original panels - he pointed to the footwell repairs in mine and said his was still original there.....

But he may have just been tempting me to come and look.

On a '67 or '68 are the chassis numbers on the small oval plate on the slam panel or the even smaller rectangular plate on the radiator cowl ???
I can't remember when the change was, just in case something is being hidden but I think I know most of the shell age related differences anyway.

No problem, I told him that there might be others I knew who would be interested (if I wasn't) but would most likely be too far away.
But in your case, quite near, he's in Holton (just outside Halesworth in your direction)....

Well that was a waste of time......

He said he was away Bank Holiday weekend but call round any time the following weekend, so I did - twice today.

No-one in and just an answerphone on his number.

The garage/workshop they are in (as he described it to me) had no windows so I couldn't even see from a distance.

So he wasted his time 10 days ago tracking me down and wasted my time today......
