I'm off to the IMM in the VW, it's going home :) any way i think it might be an idea to get some europe break down just in case.

Who have you guys found the best. I've not to impressed with the AA from friends, in the past time they have used them.

cheers MW

I went to France with RAC cover and they sorted everything out when we had fuel pump problems. but its not like the uk they take your car to the nearest dealer to diag and fix. We never paid anything, but then they couldn't find anything. It was down to crap fuel from some country filling station that probably hasn't been used for 20 years...

Getting the car back to the UK can be a problem. or if the repair goes wrong. Have a good read of the policy. The parents have had issues with this in the past. They got a car home but their car was in France for 6 weeks.. luckily they have a house over there and my mum can live without the car....plus the older the car the less they want to cover it.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

thats cool most wont re-patriate a car over 10 years old without additional cover

personally i would look at in order
1)green flag
2) rac
3) aa

Green flag are appaling for there low end cover you really get what you pay for with them, porsche assistance and the caravan club only use GF for there recovery here and in the EU, the high end cover arguably is the best you can buy

Rac again are more expensive than AA but they use more contractors so you get collected quicker

AA are not to bad the problem is you wait longer to get scooped up as they use more of there own trucks and the nearest could be hrs away

One thing to bair in mind though is that if you break down its highly unlikly you will come back with your car, the few i have delt with the driver and passengers have flown home and the car/bike turns up in the UK a month later

Cost of course.

They'll wait until they have several cars to ship over, then take them at once.

If you have a tsb current account, you can update their freebie national AA cover to suit.

Without doubt ADAC!
Got this when I lived in Germany and kept it on my return. For approx €90 I (we) get European cover for me and my wife (regardless of vehicle I'm in) for the year.
I also received a book of 'ADAC cheques', in case you need emergency money (which you pay back later).
I've also stayed in autobahn motels where, as their patrols actively patrol the autobahns instead of waiting for a call, when the patrol passes your services/motel, they pull in, give the car the once over (to make sure it's secure) before continuing on.
Can't rate them highly enough!
And if you go to their website, there's an English application form *Clapping* .
