Hi all. Im just needing a moan

Ive had a shit cuple of months, younger bro crashed his car outside work in front of us and smashed his face in ( part of the stone wall came through the glass and the glass tore his face open) Not nice at all but hes healing well.
Ive had a bad back for ages but went big time again so off work for ages, then ive been in for a hurnia opp last month, off work again and no go on the mini either. Then ended up back in hospital on monday with an infection in the hurnia. Back is still killing me and docs just tell me to rest and give me tablets wich i hate taking.

Its pissing me off bigtime.

Righ i no it makes no odds at the moment but ive been gathering bits together for another engine for the car.

I have 3 options

1 k head on carbs
2 k head turbo'ed
3 5 port turbo (still)

Now the k head on carbs would be good with my car but im thinking for the expence of fancy head, special cams etc im still only going to get the same power as my 5port turbo i have now.

K head turbo would be great but il need standalone ecu, and one off inlet and exhaust manifolds etc.

Or do i stick to the 5port and carb, ive got a ofset valve MED head for it and could have a fancy manifold and gt20.

Whats peoples thaughts, it will happen just going to be over the winter.

Spec me an engine and why ??

how about one of Kimmin's 7 ports?

its closer to your current engine, you can use the turbo manifold & exhaust on both,

you just need to make up a plenum and sort the ecu

Duno joe, this is going to sound awfull especialy to you but i see the 7 port same as the 5, does it have the same charecteristics eg 2 in 3 out , same as 4 in 3 out ??

its the year of the 7 port, solves most ( dare i say all) of the 5 ports problems but remains 95% Bolton mod, can be fittted straight on a stock bottom end

hope you and your bro get better too

Hmm tough one

In theory a n/a will be easier to make take trackday abuse all day long.

A turbo could do it, but will take more effort ironing out the problems to make it reliable and keep cool

However turbo's are much much more fun and may even pop your back into place with the extra tug

Very sorry to hear of your woes, it does sound particularly bad. Hope things get better for you soon and your brother has a good recovery.

Although Im an A series all the way type, your car could easily get away with a huge hp Vtech

Ive still got the mini subframe thats part of the frame so no big engines will be going in, just A series, as thats what i like.

Thanks for the kind words gents, bro is getting married next sat so hes had somthing to look forward to, just going to look odd on the pics with scar's on his face.

clock tower with a sniper rifle

start with a very basic engine (cheap) and just get a feel for the car then i would have gone for 2 engines, one high reving NA on carbs/tb:s and a boosted one.

hope you (and your brother) vill have a quick recover, we need to see this car flat out*wink*

How about use the 5 port turbo till it breaks/melts a piston, then rebuild it into a k head turbo afterwards?

Edit: Assuming the 5 port actually does break. If not it shows they can take the abuse of a track far more then people believe.
