Hi,

I've been looking at door skinning tools and wondered if anyone else has bothered with them and if so.......was it worth the money or am I better off just using a hammer and dolly?

They seem to be pretty expensive for what is essentially a fancy set of pliers so thought its worth a check before shelling out,any recommendations welcome.

If they are any good and anyone is willing then I would be happy to pay someone for a loan of theirs.

Cheers Ross.

I've got a pair of S&P. Got them used from ebay for about £12. Well worth having in your box. You get a better finish if you use them correctly.

John has them at the moment. You could probably borrow them, but it might take a little while for him to get his a panel fitted...

Yep hammer and dolly do the job just fine.

Be carefull if your doing the ally ones, they dont need as much force as the steel. lol

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

having never done a door skin before, i didnt want to fluck up the ally door skins, so splashed out £40 on a pair

did the job fine and quickly too, but if youre only gonna do one pair, might be better to get the hammer and dolly out

You could awlays make some on the cheep. A Pair of plumbers grips and some flat bar is all you need. I had a go, but I made the inside flat bit too long and it caused ripples. That's easily sorted though
