hi all,

I'm having an issue with the wifes '89 mini that has been fitted with a 1275 and stage 1 kit (not a turbo, yet!)

It was running fine but has now started to cut out. it only happens when you ease off the accelerator after short bursts of speed and does it in any gear. The engine starts up again if you push the pedal down again and will return to normal if you hold the revs at around 2-3000rpm

any ideas?

thanks

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

I had problems with my old clumban dieing when the engine/under bonnet was really hot (i.e. after a thrashing) I think it was a dodgy plug lead. I replaced all the ignition bar the leads and it didn't fix it. A set of new descent leads later and it never happened again.

it could be a loose wire to the coil or something along this thought, as my turbo used to misfire BADLY when under ONLY BOOST but then completely konked out 2 days later, first thing i did when i started troubleshooting was check the ignition system and i found that my +12v to coil had corroded off...

when mine did this it turned ut to be the vaccum hose on the side of the carb had come off..would literally run fine until you accelerated alittle harder then came off the pedal..or if holidng it slightly higher revs (3k upwards.) just a thought
