The head itself could be the same...K100 is often assumed to be a 8 V head, but my head for example is a K100RS 4v head, which is a 16Valver.

THen there is the K1 16 valver. Making it possible to have K100 and K1 8 valver aswell as K1/K100/K1100/K1200 16V heads.

1989 the 16v head was introduced which was called the K100RS 4v, and the K1

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

If all the cam cover fixing bolts are directly oposite each other, its a 16v if they are off set, its an 8v. This was the one thing that showed up that 999 engine, all over Youtube, as an 8v, anounced as 16v

I have been right all the time. I state in my first post that there is both a 8V and a 16V K100 *tongue*

right i see what the pics are pointing out now, mine is same as the top pic, but definitely is 8v so that makes it a k100 8v...

It cannot be 8v if all the cam cover bolts are oposite each other, like the top pic.

Morspeed reckoned he had 16v covers specially cast to look like 8v covers, but there is no disputing either by looking at the positioning of the cam cover bolts whether it looks like an 8v or 16v.
