getting my block booked in for work in the next week or so, got this quote from slark racing, what do you guys think of the price?
also is it tuftriding or nitriding which is the cheaper of the two??

Hi Daniel
Thanks for your enquiry. Our estimate follows:
Clean block, bore and hone ?82
Deck block ?40
Fit centre strap ?25
Supply and fit cam bearings ?52.00
Regrind crank and tuftride ?108.00
Total ?307.00
From the time you delivered the block to us we would estimate a 2-3 week turnaround. Tuftriding can sometimes cause a bit of a delay.
Regards,
Bryan/Neil
Slark Race Engineering

cheers
DAN :)

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

seems in the ball park ? ish*wink*
but a quicker turnround would be better i would take the crank first to get that rolling
(on its way) tuftriding is ok but i think nitriding is most expensive and only done usually on EN40 all out cranks 5/8" dia journals
i wonder if these guys work is excellent???
has enyone of us had anything done buy them ?

i know his heads are good, so i can only assume that the rest of his work is up to scratch, seems to be a pretty well known guy which can only be good.
i think i'll ring and get the block booked in asap then.
cheers

Are you sure things can still be nitrided ? I thought this was no longer allowed, due to environmental issues ?

i am sure MED does this but they farm it out else ware ? i am sure hindles of bradford do this.
i suppose with it only been on say small scale batches, its easy to have done but expensive.

Why "an estimate", surely a figure should be given as they are an engine builder, no mention of VAT in the quote.

It is on the high side but it is Slark, you will get top quality, a bit like shopping for food in Marks and Spencers!!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

End of the day for something like engine machining id go as local as possible (within reason and as long as they do a good job)

Helps on the carriage etc plus you get to know them much better.
