I have removed these cones from a subby i bought anyone seen these before? The subby they came off was a hydro front converted to dry with massive neg. camber having converted hydro top arms and 2.0 neg bottom arms, massive bump stops and avo shocks so i would think it may have been a track car?

I think that they are silicone srpings but I can't remember the name of the company that made them.

I've just shoved a set I had in the Sprint as the doughnuts on it were fooked. Not sure if they'll be any good.

Edit: not smootha ride anyway, these are made by Moulton and look conventional. http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-parts/..._MSLMS0400.html

Those bump stops were originally used on the hydrospastic minis on the rear. It is a Special Tuning department modification to use these on dry subframes front and rear on rally Minis. The rear needs the long flex brake hose that connects direct to the rear wheel cylinder, so that you can tuck it down under the radius arm out of the way. Got them on mine.

Deffo not smootharides. The bumpstops on the toparms in the background i have found on the minispares site so the mystery ends there for them but the cones are really unusual.
There are two rubber 'springs'and two alloy parts. The one alloy 'pot' slides inside the other with a rubber cone inside and then the complete lot sits in the rubber'ring'. They do look well made and seem as though they would work well.

They're deffo some of the spectra dynamics poly springs. Circa 2004 iirc. At least that's when I bought the set I had.

In theory they should perform well, as Baldwin won several years while running them in his miglia.

Too many projects!

I thought they may have been off a miglia racer as i had been told that some used the hydro top arms as well to get extra camber?
Judging by the condition of the brakes shockers etc. i fetched off i would say that the frame was built up and not used or used very little.
Are they worth anything as i already bought a set of uprated springs so won't need them or the top and bottom arms as i have adj.

Perhaps Scruffy can elaborate:

The Hydro top arms will NOT gain you extra camber. For them to do this, they need to be shorter which they are not. What they do is that the hole for the suspension knuckle is situated further IN, making the leverage on the suspension cone different.

As far as I know, Miglias aren't allowed to run cones like that.

I thought that the Hydro arm knuckles were further OUT?

This is why Migs use them (and me) because with the suspension so low the top arm angle menas that verticle movement is tiny, effectively sofening the spring rate.

Migs used to run them at one stage. originally available in two hardnesses 80 & 94. 80 in real terms is harder than anything available in rubber and i am very pleased with mine!

94 is for those who are married to a dentist lol!

They do seem well engineered i may give them a go but i have also got a set of minispares springs which i was going to fit front and rear. Spoilt for choice now lol. Thanks guys for the info cleared up the mystery for me. Steve
