I'm on the lookout for a k1100 head but cannot decide whether to go for the k1100 lt or rs head.

I would be looking for power up to 8000rpm, and not more then 200 bananas. Would it be better to go for the LT cams with someting like a gt2056 turbo, or go for the RS cams and use the slightly smaller gt1752 - I already have the gt17.

Or using the gt17 would it be possible to mess with the cam timing on the lt head to get that top end power. I'd like power from at least 4000rpm but it not to start falling away till after 7000rpm.

What are peoples thoughts on this, as to be honest I don't know enough to make an accurate decision about this? Or just whatever head I can get hold of!

Thanks

James

'RS' cam only come on the K100RS4v, K1 or the K1200 heads.

If its K1100, chances are they will be 'LT' spec even though the bike is branded RS.

This is excluding any export models.

Turbo Harry used the RS cams and reckoned it didnt come on boost untill 4500 and then ran for 8k in a flash. He now runs an LT inlet and RS exhaust, and if my memory serves the GT2056, pushing around 220hp

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

That gt17 have enough flow to brake 200, so I wouldn't justify the expense of the gt2056.
Harry's a top bloke, with magic hands and mind, I would mimic what he's done about cams.

Thanks, that settles that then.

Its interesting just how many different combinations and variations there are of more or less the same head.

I'll keep my eyes open for a head then, It looks like have a summer ahead of being unemployed the way job searching is going, so I hope to have a lot of the cheap fiddly bits of the conversion done over the summer, like oil jets, block tapping and plugging etc.

Then when I have the money spend it on the big shiny things like conversion bits and engine/gearbox.
