Well iv converted from distributor to megajolt, the engine ran fine with distributor, but megajolt seemed like a good upgrade.

So i fitted the edis part first and it was running nicely with the set 10* advance. But after a drive i found that the engine had a horrible missfire at random times. When going along the motorway after being at about 3500RPM for about 5 minutes i got a misfire, lifted off slightly, misfire got worse and i lost all power, so i took it out of gear lot the engine idle for a second, put it back in gear and tried to accelerate but still missing, then it cleared and reved freely and the engine that ran properly....

i would also get the missfire when going alot slower through country lanes, but the misfire would clear alot faster...

I got these same issues with either running EDIS4 on its own or running with magajolt aswell...

I dont get this missfire when running on distributor though, so im pretty sure its not fuel related.

My EDIS4 is earthed well and the wire from the VR sensor is removed straight from the ford and soldered straight to the EDIS4, however all the VR connector wires i have removed dont appear to be shielded (just a twin core wire...)

What plugs are you running? Did you change to resistor plugs?

I once had this on a friends car, it turned out id got the wires that feed the coil pack the wrong way around! *indifferent* Check this too as it sound identical to out problem.

Hi mike, please could you explain a little further the coil feed problem your friend experienced.

Im using BPR6E so they should be ok as the have the R in the plug name...

Basically you have 3 wires to the plug that plugs into the coil pack, the 2 outer wires are the signals (iirc) just check these arent the oposite way around.

Elsewhere on here is a tip which involves putting a condenser on the centre connection to the coil pack to avoid misfiring in some circumstances - may be worth a try ?.

arent the 2 outer wires for one of each of the 2 firing banks? I use one of the outer wires to supply a pulse to my rev counter on my digidash at half speed (2 pulses instead of 4) as I dont have tacho out on my megasquirt.

have you checked the timing on the trigger wheel then checked this against what it reads on your pc

i think ill try fitting the condenser on to the live feed to the coil, and see if that helps atall.

Yes iv used the timing lights and the timing is matching up with what i see on the light and what my laptop shows, so it appears the timing is correct.

I dont kow if it was just random, but the coil power feed and my fuel pump power feed were shared, but i have now taken a new direct feed to the megajold and the missfired now appear to be less hard, but are still clearly there, so this might not be related...
