Force Racing ICT Dept Manager Miglia Turbo Am frum Yokshyer tha noes!

Ive recently being building a 1310 for my Pap's Cooper S. Ive decided on a 286 Megadyne Cam along with a nicely worked head broze guides all the works ect ect. Now ive just acquired a 84mm Crank. What sort of engine characteristics would i get running a tall cam in a tall engine?

I would expect that the longer stroke (and increased capacity) would smooth out the cam somewhat. If you combined it with mapped ignition I reckon it would be a good tractable motor.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

It'll be a pussy cat. Went out in a 1430 with a 286ish cam and 1.5 rockers, with a good head and on a weber, just the other day. Really comfortable off cam, with buckets of power and torque as the revs build, 115bhp IIRC.

Retroracer1380 will back me up on that, he was driving it at the time.

Quick hi-jack while we're on the subject...

What about:

1. 1430 with a SW10?

2. 1430 with a 310?

Reason being as my mate has lent me his 1380 with 286 and hi lift rockers...and tbh, it's not reallyt that fast...don't want my 1430 to be a let down

I had an SW10 in a standard 998 with a 12G940 head and running a dizzy. Best engine I ever had, used as a daily driver and perfect in traffic. You could definitely go with more duration on a 1430

That should be a rocket, who's done the work on the head? Wants a really nice head to make that work properly.

I think that's what Mr Big has in his Mini, and from the passenger seat it's blooming good fun.

Wouldn't two engines and the lack of a passenger seat rule him out though? *Confused*

A mate of mine, I've known him for god knows how many years and I still don't know his first name, as an aside I also know a Mr Pink.

It's a Slark race head. 36x31 valves and huge porting. 12.5:1 cr.

I got overtaken by my mate in his 1330 with a 649+ and lesser spec head *Confused*

Has it been setup right? Cam timing good?

It got 102 ponies at Slarks, but my friend had it set up for "driveability" pfft!

I have had suspisions about the cam timing mind. It seems to run fine, just lacking in oomph...

P.s. only just realised how off topic this has actually gone LOL.
