hi all

I was wandering if anyone would be so kind to get me a few measurements from their turbo mini.
The story is as im at the end of my restoration i modded the car during the work to house a vtec but have now found that what i thought was a bog standard 1275 turns out to be a metro turbo enigine running NA the buklhead mod i did consists of taking some of the crossmember out and boxing in and putting in a homemade box above . So before i go mad with getting all the turbo stuff i need i need to know whether it will fit if anyone could help i would be very grateful.

i need the measurement from block below the manifold to the back end of the bulkhead box and also from the rocker cover to the back of the bulkhead box , i say these becasue i have no turbo on at the minute and need to measure from a point that is non:) moveable but the same on both units or if someone has a good idea chuck it on also how much clearance from the closest part of the turbo to the bulkhead .

bit long winded i hope it makes sense

There is more than one box used, ie, the "original" design which is quite shallow and the one Jason (on this forum) makes (and has been copied by others) which is deeper and probably many others inbetween, especially home made ones.

Width and height are also important measurements and especially a 45 degree angle added to the box at the passenger side to clear the turbo wastegate actuator.

There are quite a few threads on box installations which will show what I mean, ie, there is no single measurement that will answer your question.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Here's a typical one (mine) showing where the clearance is needed especially downwards and the extra angle on the passenger side.

I'm not suggesting it's the only way, just "typical" (using one of Jason's boxes).

EDIT - looking at your piccy, you don't appear to have the recess required below the original bulkhead line.

the angle on the cross member on the right hand side of Rods pic is needed to make life easyer.... my angle is too small and gatting anything onto the turbo ( air filter) is almost impossible

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

lee, you have plenty of space at the crossmember height. but i would say not enough beneeth that.
is it for a T3?

other turbos may fit, but as it is a T3 may be a problem.
