hi again :)

ive been toying with the idea of a wid band landba setup.

my question is, can an spi bosch sensor be used as i have the plug for it on my injection loom which could be re-used. this would make it very easy when it go's poop to replace it aswell as they are readily availible by just asking for a injection mini landba sensor. can this be used or do the diall and wideband sensor have to be a matched set?

thankyou.

narrowband and wideband sensors are not interchangeable. Simply leave the narrowband as it is, weld a second boss into the exhaust and fit the wideband independantly

this isnt for an spi its for my turbo. i havnt actually got a sensor yet, just wondering what to get for a kit.

is the spi one a narrowband then, i was just wondering as though it would be easily interchangeable, i just didnt know if it was suitable.

what sensors are you all using. do you get full kits?

:)

The SPI narrowband will be of next to no use. I believe most wideband kits use an LSU4 sensor from Bosch. My kit is an Innovate LC1 with an XD16 gauge. A bit fiddly to install.

The kit essentially needs a sensor, controller (which creates a linear output from the sensor so the gauge can make sense of it) and a guage

Alot of people swear by AEM kits, which I will be using next time (as they do an EGT & AFR gauge in 1)

ok.

thankyou for the information gary i will do a search for the said kit and see what prices im looking at.

the help is much apreciated :)

my dialls are a bit mix and match at the moment. (in my 4 pod anyway) tim tacho, tim boost gauge, racetech fuel pressure and now a 4th one. so im not too worries about the makes on the dial front :)

Vems, EGT built in, AND with boost control. There are a couple of happy users on TM, who can comment more. All I can say is that it seems to be a robust unit. Even after wiring one up incorrectly twice, two different ways, it still works *hehe!* Not that I advise you do this.

that looks very smart indeed.

however the techincal terms dont mean alot to me at the moment.

so more questions... is a controller needed with this gauge? ie do i just need the sensor and gauge for this setup.

and whats egt? vems?

and boost controll... and this diall. is it like a little computer?

would you please be able to tell me all the features of this in simplemans terms lol. im still learning, and electrics is something ive still got alotalot to learn.

im very interested now :)

both the AEM and VEMS come with the sensor and controller, essentialy every thing you need.

we put the AEM gauge on the metro van temporarily. It took 10 minutes. The gauge is just plonked on the the dash and gets power from the fag lighter socket. Would have taken another 5-10 minutes to fit it properly.

I'll def be putting one on my mini

I have bought a few from here now. £136 presently.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...RK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Works OK for me as I can bring them home when we go to visit my girlfriends dad in New Jersey. However the guy that runs the place is very helpful, so it may be worth an email to see how much shipping from him to the UK would be.
That price on Phil's link looks quite good though.
