This may seam like a stupid question to some but, where should the money be spent first when it comes to S/C gears,
im aiming to be running about 150-180bhp, and it will be driven fast at times.
i plan to have fully S/C at some point just it would keep the my car off the road for another few months if i was going to wait untill i build a full gearbox.
So yeah back to the orginal question what should i get first when i put it on the road, or do i need to wait untill both, or even can a standard gearbox and drop gears be used untill i build a S/C one?

if your helical box is in good order theres no reason you couldnt run it with just sc drops for now... im running sc drops and a helical box. :)

Well....I'm not even turbo yet....I did a 1380 build with a stock a+ box/gears with cross pin diff & straight drops....found the next weak link....this was after 100 miles and I wasn't even ripping on it....*oh well* Guess she's makin' some torque...*tongue*

BTW...straight drops are LOUD as hell....to do it again, I'd go with good gears in the box with helical drops.

Nice and freshly redone stock gears..

100 miles of spirited driving...*tongue*

And now nice and fresh again....*happy*

im running 188 bhp on stock helical drops , broke the helical box at 150 bhp .

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

i remember benross saying in another thread the drop gears loudness depends on what set you get, theres one thats fairly quite from all accounts :/
Ill be running both enventualy, but aslong as i take it easy with s/c drops and and standard box i should be ok untill the clubman gearset gets put in ??

Drops are good, but as I have proven....you still need some good gears in the box....also, what diff are you running? Another weak point to consider with lots of power.
