Yeah spi is (they moved the alternator higher cus of front mounted radiator)stiill has petrolpump/turbo return hole round back.No bypass hose.Don't know about mpi(might not have a dizzy hole)??? compression is higher to at about 10.5:1 ish but any head fits.my stage 4 head only had 15cc chambers so I sold the head and going to turbo the bottom end.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

head modification ok to go, like any other
engine block you can do everting the same
as the others bore etc,etc,
but no oil cooler
oil cooler not reqd untill power outputs are reaching 120bhp if you use synthetic oil
15/40 ish

nothing, less than a 40 grade

Truth:
SPi was the same block, head, cam and gearbox as the stock 1.3 carb model.
At the time the injection came out, they cahnged the thread of the oil filter pipe in the block and filter housing - this more modern pipe is prone to leaking incidentally - so you'd need different oil cooler fittings (they are available however- just somethign to be aware of!)

MPi (1997 on) was a TOTALLY different block. This had the filter head integral with the block. The head was diffferent - the head show above is an MPi, not an SPi head - and the gearbox had a close-ratio gearset, along with a 2.7 diff. It's just a shame they made the gears in the transmission out of chocolate...

Incidentally, some of the MPi heads (as above) appear to have a REALLY thick deck, so would probably take a lot of chamber modification...

Confused now I got the engine as an spi and it had the same casting number (LDF105800)as another spi head I saw for sale.
Just sold it to minispares(australia)......so shouldn't come back
