My step dad pulled a block from a midget out of his garage the other day and said i can use it for the mini BUT before i go full steam ahead and get it worked ready:
What are the differences between the 1275 block from the midget and the mini block is any?
Are any of these going to cause a problem to building and engine for a mini using one

I,ve done it the other way round which is probably more difficult, but the real difference is in the rear main bearing cap. Have a lokk and decide if you can keep the Midget one (preferred option) or if you need to use a mini one, which should, technically, be line bored to match. If its to be a hi-po engine then you cant take any chances.

so this is the only difference that could provide any issues, so if I can use the original main bearing cap its usualble?

I took a chance and changed the cap without having it line bored - but then I am a bit of a chancer anyway -certainly not recommended.

The only way you can be sure if it will work the way you want to is to put the mini crank in the block and offer it up to the transmission and see what , if any, clearance problems there are. I dont think it will be a big problem, but then, as I said, I have not done this myself, so dont give me a hard time if I,m proved wrong !!

I'd just use a mini block.

not particularly helpful, but it saves the hassle.

I agree. Also, the inline boys have started converting Mini blocks because they are getting scarce.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I was going to say I've got a 1275 A+ block I'd be willing to swap for it.
