Hi,

I wanted to make the current 1293 I've built a turbo but I already had high compression pistons etc so its become normal NA engine in the end

So I thought I would build one suited for turbo use out of the spare 1275 I have in the garage and try to make something suitable for a daily driver

I'm looking to use a T2 turbo on the Mirage manifold setup. I just have a few questions that need answering.

I know that so far I need 10cc Omega pistons and a head suited for turbo use, Avonbar PH2 cam

1. First of all, I've been looking for T2 turbos and as usual the stuff on ebay is well used junk so I looked on Turbo Technics and found this

http://www.turbotechnics.com/turbo/s116.htm

Any opinions? I don't want to run crazy boost as a daily driver, maybe 10psi max?

2. What kind of clutch setup do I need? I'd go for a lightened pre verto and Ap race rally plate but not sure on the diaphragm? To be honest I think this is because I don't know what power 10psi of boost will be making?

3. I have 10" wheels so I guess I'm looking for a 3.1 FD with turbo?

4. Gearbox wise I know I need a cross pin diff, but can I keep standard helical gears? Is it minimum straight cut drops I need?

5. Will I be fine using a standard duplex? I bought one which has just been sitting there as I used a vernier on the road 1293

6. As a daily driver, is 10psi boost a safe level, what sort of power will I be seeing?

Thanks

I think I've answered most my questions by looking at the Turbo mini website in detail again

So a Grey diaphragm with rally plate

Straight cut drops

Standard duplex fine

10psi boost will be making about 120-130bhp?

Not sure on the turbo, Final drive?

I would re-think the cam. A standard metro NA cam or SW5 may be better suited to a mild mannered low boost engine. Wil and Ben used the phase 2 in their 998 Hillclimber and hated it. It may prove a bit radical if ultimatel power isn't your goal.

That is all speculation on my part though

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

The Phase 2 is perfectly driveable in a 1293 & is a great cam with plenty of power potential. I'd hazard a guess & say there's probably more people on this site running that cam than any other.

I've been doing some talking to John on here, great advice from him which I appreciate

I think I could get away with strapping a turbo on the NA 1293 I have

Basic spec run down

+20 21253s
SW5 Cam
Box has cross pin diff but a 3.44 diff (10" wheels)
Road weight flywheel with AP rally plate and orange diaphragm
ARP rod bolts and head bolts

Seems with a 28cc head I could have the compression down to about 8.75ishCR, I'd need to change the FD to a 3.1 and add straight cut drops

Max running 10psi

Ideal? Won't be blowing its nuts off 10 miles down the road?

Thanks
