I'm now thinking ahead a bit. I've got a standard rear bolt in cage but obvioulsy this is going to sit a fair few inches further back than in a saloon. Given the rear ach supports are angled for the saloon, these would need to be cut off and extended to suit the new position whcih pretty much suggests to me I should start fresh with a new one.

Before I starty trawling about, does anyone know of anyone who manufactures a cage specifically for the estate? (I know the likley answer buts its worth a chance!)
I'm not too bothered about FIA spec as its only going to be a toy - no formal competion

cheers

I recently had rollcentre make me a miglia spec one for my van. They were very helpful, and extended all the bars that I needed them too. From memory the extended the sill bars, door cross bars, main from hoop bars, and roof bars!.

Wasn't too dear from memory. wasn't much more than the saloon one... takes a while to do all the notching etc, but that's no different to the saloon one.

Too many projects!

Near Lincoln

roll centre did used to list one for a van/estate. just a standard 6 point fia jobby.

My old roll centre bolt in cage was much nicer than the SD one i had in another car

I extended a normal one for mine, was very straight forward if you have the right tube. I sleeved some larger tube over to increase strength.

surely if you simply extend the tubing, the rear support is going to mount further down the arch?

you extend the front section of the cage, not the rear. So the rear sits in the normal place (in relation to the rear arches etc). The front section simply needs to be 4" longer.

got you - basically the rear is the same and the front has longer header rails to meet the rear cage.

yep.

be careful how you join/extend it though, as that joint is right next to your head... you really don't want it to fail there if the worst happens.

Too many projects!
