As it says really - I'm changing the discs and I can't get the drivers-side nut off.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

get yer misses to 'crack it off' I should be so lucky
Split pin out, steering wheel in the right place (last time I checked!), and I should say I've got a 'Y' tool thats retained by the wheel nuts on the studs which 'digs' into the ground, so don't need to put the wheel on/stand on the brakes. As for being a wuss - yeah you're probably right , but I was lifting the front of the car from the axle stands when I tried starting at the 3 o-clock position, rather than the 9 o-clock.
I'll soak the nut in WD40 as advised and let it soak in over the weekend while I work on a car thats already in bits! I'll try the bloody great graunch bar/heat as well! Thanks all

Rob - the passenger side (LEFT ) is definitely a right hand thread (anti-clockwise to remove) - this would be left hand thread if it was to self tighten, wouldn't it?
I know the trucks at work are handed but I'm sure the mini's aren't, so as chinlesswonder says. ETA Thanks Oli - might take you up on that after the weekend. Edited by Cooper1999 on 1st Jun, 2010. |

treat them both as normal nuts, looking directly at them its anticlockwise to undo.

Use a 3/4" drive 4ft breaker bar with the car on the ground wheel chocked and the wifie pressing for all her might on the brake , works for me everytime. On the other hand, I have had some front hub nuts you can wind off by hand after removing the split pin, some one elses bad job.

I have the same as the argos one and I have been surprised how good it actually is. I only paid around £12 for it a couple of years ago, and it has been worth it weight in gold.
