i fitted mine in the Y piece after the join of the 2 pipes on my carb car.

on the turbo, i mounted it just at the start of my through pipe, just after the turbo downpipe joint. made it easier to run wires up through reverse switch wire gromet in floor.

its better to have it nearer the engine as poss for un heated ones i think.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

easiest place is to put it just in the downpipe i guess. not got one on mine but will do this year.

Mines going there anyway.

Ours is about half way between the turbo and the downpipe bend. It seemed the best place, where there was enough space.

As for voltages:

Sensor output ranges from 0.2 Volts (lean) to 0.8 Volts (rich). A perfectly balanced or "stoichiometric" fuel mixture of 14.7 parts of air to 1 part of fuel gives an average reading of around 0.45 Volts.

For more info see http://www.picotech.com/auto/lambda_sensor.html

Should it be perfect or should it be leaner or richer?

Turbo engines are 'safest' between11 and 11.5 on lambda - don't know what that is in volts though...

The Bosch sensors are rated to work at 700c / 1300f anything above this temperature they become very inaccurate.
Location depends on the type of sensor you have, if it?s heated via a 12vdc supply then you can place it further from the engine say around the remote gear change and take the wires through the floor as mentioned earlier.
If it?s an unheated sensor then it?s essential that it?s placed close but not to close to the engine say in the lower section of the downpipe this way it?ll get the temperature needed to heat and keep it clean but won?t get the sensor to hot and cause inaccurate readings.

OK Now i'm getting confused. A lot of nice graphs though. Would it be best to keep it lower down on the down pipe like say at the bottom?

Turboing minis since '89
Supercharging minis since '04

wide band sensor is quicker and more accurate (but as usual costs more), measured voltage is 0- 5 v i think ,air fuel ratio i would go for is 12:1 which equates to 6.5 percent CO under load , just put it somewhere the speed ramps wont attack it !

My current sensor location and it's working a treat. Narrow Band 4 wire heated bosch sensor.

Sensor and Gauge came of ebay.
http://www.si-invension.de/

The car isn't a turbo (but my other car is *wink* ) and i set it up using the innovatemotorsports LM-1 gauge. You can use the cheaper gauge from SI to tune but not being wideband it's not so easy. My cars running a 45 weber and seems to run rich under load and idles at midpoint say 14:1 (Green on the gauge) so not to bad.

cheers guys,

Pete

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

For wideband O2 sensors, try .
All info there, where to order, part numbers etc.

Cheers
