Hello,

I was looking at the engine rebuild offered by Morspeed and they do a turbo built engine for £650 (just short engine) with hardened crank, center strap and turbo cam etc

Also 11cc domed out pistons.

for the money seems quite good but then again not all top quality components. I would rather build one myself but just weighing prices against building own.

Are these any good or just cheap engine components and not too strong.

I will be running between 12-20psi boost as it's just a weekend road or trackday car so looking to squeeze max out of it.

any help appreciated*smiley*

Has anyone on here had any good dealings with him? Has anyone heard from him recently?

I'd be worried if he was supplying domed pistons. Domes point upwards, might give you clearance issues with the head *hehe!*

Perhaps he is selling 'Doomed' pistons. That would make sense.

the man is a cunt, and a thief.

Avoid at ALL COSTS.

You have been warned :)

check out some of the guys on this site who build engines, Turbophil and Benross both do great engines at very decent prices....

Sadly I am sure Simon has been taken to court and lost many more time than we know. Unfortunately the small claims court can only issue CCJs. They can not enforce payment. So even though he has CCJs against him he still probably owes the money and continues to trade.

Which is unfortunate for people who may be taken in by his seemingly bargain prices.

Thanks for the replies and yes I meant dished >_<

I will take the cunt and thief comment and stay well clear pmsl.

I will probably just get mine machined and rebuild myself but when you look at price of decent pistons, rods, crank regrind with hardening etc the price catches up with buying a short block!

I mean I can skim my own heads and machine off cap for centre strap etc on mill and machine down valve guides on lathe etc but boring and line boring are well beyond my kits capability.

OK will steer clear and thanks for decent heads up. When I saw that many replies so quick I knew it had to bad lol

If you've got the skills, I would build your own. I've had a hand in building up a couple of engines now and it's not too difficult. You just need to take your time and be methodical about it.

At least that way you know exactly what's gone into it and the standard the work was done to.

yup, same spec as what simon did for me i guess. 11cc 21253's, std crank & rods, i already had an avonbar ph2 cam to throw in though.

i ran a st2 head at first with it, and made around 120 nana's @ 10psi on the T3. That was a few years back i bought that aswell.

yes
simon built me a so called 1380 trackday engine, the stage 5 head was spot on, however after building the engine, i had a lot of problems starting it, i eventually bought a highpower starter motor and got the engine running, after 100 miles i took it to dave at bogg bross for a rolling road. after about 10 min dave informed me that their was something wrong with the engine, it was leaking oil internally. he recommended dave walker race engines at gainsborough, i took the engine out and went to dave walker, he informed me that the engine had been rebored to 1380 but it had not been honed, concequently the pistons were jamming in the bores, most of the threads had not been cut properly, concequently the block was completely useless. i had to get a new block and have the engine rebuilt. however on a different note :steve (benross) has delivered my new engine this week, the quality and attention to detail is in a different league. i cannot fault the build or quality in any way. if you need anything doing , i would go with steve everytime

I've been in court with Simon myself, had a judgement made in my favour, and when asked if he could pay, Simon told the judge he was unemployed and had no form of income.

I protested that he was lying and that he was still trading as Morspeed, and the judge basically told me there was nothing he could do about it!
