Hi,

I recently took the plunge and decided to whack a turbo on (if it only was that easy) to the engine I'm building for my Mk2. I've had loads of advice from people especially John on here which I appreciate.

Now I've never actually driven a mini with a turbo, have only seen them at shows

Tell me, worth it? Loads of fun? Torque steer? Shit your pants?

Hehe, iv only just got mine finished as i said in other thread.

Its so worth it. Trust me, you will be grinning from ear to ear.

Tis a bit torque steery but just depends what power you have.

Its amazing just hearing the turbo spool up.

Not to mention the dump valve going ptishhh! (I'm must be a chav at heart)

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Our van is certainly more fun now that it's turboed. Don't worry about torque steer, it's all just part of the fun!

My A35 (do a search) followed a Ferrari on the Oxford ring road last Sunday and he just kept pushing the speed up until we were overtaking everything at over 90, at which point the Ferrari driver seemed to be very confused and eventually we both slowed down as the overtaken traffic was looking a bit concerned too.

Best thing is , even the police dont believe I can travel so quickly and have(so far) left me alone.

I was thinking more the drain of the wallet wanting to go faster and the loss of social life :)

I,m planning to be there Andy, but I reckon you may humiliate me, along with a few dozen others doing the same.

I'm not adding much to whats been said but yes good fun! Just got mine on the road recently and despite it being a quick lash together for the summer I'm happy I went the turbo route. Nice and torquey plus on low boost mine has no torque steer but still plenty quick for overtaking etc. On slightly higher boost it's scary and fun!

have a look at the links at the bottom here, ....... in short more than enough power in a mini to grenade your arse out

i would say there are great, just not as good IMO around the tight back roads as a good N/A

yes but you soon catch up willie ols boy, but you are right, but i prefer to go mach 2 down the straights and just a tad slower round the corners as you wont put it in the ditch along a straight bit, unless its the mighty willie of course then you might with the tourque steer you have lol

in my opinion...
putting the turbo engine in the mini was the best thing i have ever done. ever.
on so many levels. the sound. the feeling. the comments - especially from other ''quick'' cars. i cant count on both of my hands how many cars have actually talked to be in sheer amazement after a bit of play time

all in my opinion, of course. lol
