To get clearance on my carbs i need to let a very slight bulge into the bonnet something along the lines of that shown below. Would it aid airflow to the carbs if there was mesh across the top of the gap? Any advice appreciated

The only thing mesh will do is prevent air flowing into the gap as the air struggles to pass trough the small holes in the mesh.

I love the look of the filters poking out the front. I guess your going for the sleeper look though?

I am going for looking as standard as possible from the outside. I like the look of the filters poking through as well but didn't think it would suit this car. As it has short manifolds the performance is already compromised, so am just looking for a happy medium between appearance and function.

why not cut the bonnet near to the edge of the bonnet stripes from back to front and make a kad style bonnet, so the bulge is a little more progressive, then it would be more suttle, if you know what i mean. On 15th Jul, 2009 fastcarl said:
