286 would be a stonker cam in that engine :)

286 camshaft with a 3,1 diff would be Okish, but I'd say 276 for the road any day. The piper 285 and Kent286 are so similar that they could be treated as the same. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

If you already have a 285-2 then I would stick with that.

On paper the 285 and 286 look fairly similar but in overall driving terms the 285 has a wider power spread and is not quite so peeky a properly set up engine with the 285 will power from 1700 the 286 2600 That just might be a consideration for overall drivability. I had a 276 in a 1275 gt engine and it was bags of fun whilst still been ok to take ya mum down the shops!!! |

help needed, im not sure which cam to put into my next project. I have got a piper 285-2 but im not sure if it will work with the set up that i have got.Im building a 1330 lightend and balanced flywheel and backplate 1'3/4 su, k+n stub stack, modified head, race valves, not sure about rockers, 3.1 final drive any ideas




thanks for the feedback, i have have a chat with benross and i think that i am going to try the 285-2 if don't work i'll take it out and try something else
