Hi,

I own a Mk2 which has undergone a full body resto, I reckon nearly every panel in the bloody book has been replaced or looked at. Its been away for quite a while now but it should be painted soon and back to me in a few weeks which will be a real joy. Bodywork has been done at SD Minis which is where I got my Megajolt kit from as well.

Planning to run a T2 setup on Mirage manifolds as I could never cut into the bulkhead on the bugger, must say thanks to John on here as well as he has kept me interested with the turbo ideas and been there to answer every question I had.

I can't be arsed to copy every update from my other project thread but here are a few pics:

How I got it,

All stripped locked and loaded to go away for body massage

The rebuilt engine, very quick rundown, 1293 with 21253 Pistons, SW5 cam, Cross pin diff. Pistons are high compression as I didn't plan for turbo at the time but with right head (Being taken care of by Benross) I should be able to see the maximum of 10psi I want) Yup I built it up in the living room!!

Gone for the Fast road Minitastic setup

Megajolt

I've had to make a few changes for the Turbo, head opened up, straight cut drops, Spi tank, turbo carb etc Thanks to Richard (Turbominivanman) and RobH for the Carb and Plenum. Much appreciated for the quick and friendly service.

T2

Sorry for the quick run down but I hope that bring its all up to dateish

Looks like a good basis to start from :)

Slightly O/T but does anyone have any first hand experience of that minitastic kit?

I've been comtemplating buying them for my build but only heard people questioning the spring rates etc

Ollie, I've heard great things about the Minitastic kit which is the reason I bought it. I know someone who had a test drive of the Minitastic mini and bought the kit straight away.

I sent the head off to Benross to be opened up to 28cc for turbo use. Nice quick and friendly service

Before

After

Also Richard (Turbominivanman) recommended I buy a rebuild kit for the carb and give it a once over. I was free today but only got as far as taking the float cover off before family called and I had to pack it all up and leave *oh well*

The cover took a bit of tapping with the rubber mallet before it came off, then I understood why!!

Check out the Gunky/crappy/jellified petrol

*surprised*

Looking good Rahul.

Can't wait to see it up and running on the T2, that'll be good for a few ponies.

Oh, that carb is shocking, the petrol looks as though is gone to Jello.

Bloody good job you're rebuilding it ! *smiley*

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
