Anybody been keeping up with the MS3 developments? Does anyone think it looks more promising than the MS2? Anyone on here get lucky enough to score a beta(assuming someone asked?)

Secondly, would anyone be interested in doing a group buy of ms2 kits? What's the going rate for the ms2 over there? I'm not sure how many people are wanting or needing one...

Here's a start list:

I don't think there is anyone over here who sells them as kits and only one reputable place to buy them already built - but it has been cheaper (so far) to buy kits or parts from the USA, DIYAutotune or GlensGarage.

It depends on the exchange rate GB£/US$ but comparing the price of a built up one (as there were no kits in the UK to compare), last time I bought stuff it was about a 20% saving even after oversees carriage, import duty, VAT and UK handling charges.

A sort of group buy was suggested earlier this year

but I don't think it got anywhere.

Hmmm. Well, I'll keep the thread up. I just got an e-mail from DIY Autotune, and they'll give me a $9 discount on each if I can get at least 10.

What's the sales tax position in the USA when you buy between States ???

DIYAutotune for example are in Georgia and you are in Colorado.

VAT over here is simple, same all over, but I know different states of the USA have different sales taxes, so how does it work if you buy from another State within the USA ???

Also, certain States allow you to reclaim the USA Sales Tax if an item is being exported - I've been at that desk in the airport a few times.......

At this time MS3 is not available and even when it is, it doesn't have the siamese port options for injection timing. It will likely have it at some point and sooner if there is demand but there's no guarantee.

And unless you want a lot of extra features, the advantages of MS3 over MS2 are not that great for the Mini. That may change in the future because the MS3 CPU has a lot more capabilities but it's not clear cut right now.

I'm interested in the MS3, but like you said Jean, it's a lot of extra features not really needed. I think they just released one more batch of beta's, but that's as far as it's gotten.
As for sales tax, I don't get charged sales tax if it's a different state. I just get charged the shipping and handling fees. If there's enough interest I can sort out a shipping price, maybe someone can give me a rough estimate of weight of a fully built up kit?

I've just weighed mine and it is exactly 500g.

That's with the extra bits inside to run the Siamese code with direct ignition and a few other bits for boost, launch and traction control.

BUT, no loom - I expect most people wanting to import one would want the basic loom too.

I didn't, I made my own, but I think the basic loom would nearly double the weight and that's before packaging materials.

I hope that makes sense.

Definitely. What's your address Rod? I'll get a quote for how much to ship to you, and post a total up, with just the MS and the MS plus the harness. Should give people a general idea of how much they would be spending total.

Careful with the harness.

You need a few extra connections for things like a cam sensor.

James, if you want to estimate postage costs, mainland UK (excluding the Scottish highlands and some offshore islands) is all the same.

Use my postcode as an example by all means but I obviously won't post it all on an open internet forum

for the last three (***) just put any low number plus two letters.

Sounds good Rod. Thanks for the info! I'm just trying to get a general price Paul. If someone wants something special or extra they'd have to let me know exactly what it is.
