Hi!

Quick question regarding the Metro Turbo's cluch; does it put a much higher load on the crank thrusts, like a 'orange' or 'grey' clutch? Compared to the std. 1275 verto clutch...

Reason I'm asking is, that I need a new clutch - and thought why not buy the turbo one now, since I'm wanting to extract more power from the engine anyway. But as of now it's just an old, tired engine which needs a overhaul before I stress it much more. So - basicaly I don't trust the thrusts to take much.

In that case - is a Turbo clutch (which seems to be cheaper btw.) a wise choice? :) The engine needs to do at least 20k km until rebuild.

Cheers,
Jan

I was under the impression that the verto clutch was redesigned so that it operated in reverse compared to the pre-verto and as a result didn't load the thrusts up.

That said, I'm usually wrong.

it puts about a third of the clamping pressure onto the thrusts, a pre verto on puts all of in on.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if you want to run decent power, and we all do and you will want to (ie) over say...... 12 psi of boost ish your vertro or uprated vertro wont cut the mustard.

its a grey all the way pre vertro or double grey with power outputs over 150 bhp in a turbo engine

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I'm not at the 'boost it' stage yet:) I'm only going to have a play with a K 8V head :) Should be fine for that purpose?

You will be fine with a turbo clutch, the N/A engines are a little more forgiving with torque

Now ive gone to the twin spring verto I wouldn't consider using anything else, it has a higher clamping pressure, cheaper to buy/make, easier on the thrusts and has a better feel to it.

I've not driven mine properly yet, but I agree with Matt and Joe. RTS all the way. I don't fancy another episode of thrust munching.
