hey all... i have searched and not really come up with much so i'll ask my question, Rear Anti roll bar - are they worth it, do they make much difference to the handling.

My Car is light (600kg), Carbon roof and ally doors, no interior apart from cage and bucket seat, i have a flat boot floor and ally tank. I now have tubbed rear arches and it is very low running on 13’s.. it will be used as a track day / fun weekend / racer looker at shows.

Will the rear anti-roll bar allow me to have semi soft susp setup in the shocks so that the ride isn't too bad and on cornering reduce the amount of arch rubbing? Raising the car is not an option as it looks so good slammed.

Any thoughts or pics of fitted rear roll bars please post.

Thanks

I used to have one on a road car, I quite enjoyed it, seemed quite good fun. But i probably enjoyed going round roundabouts on 3 wheels a bit too much, i've grown up and mellowed a bit since then.

The car i'm currently building will have all the fixing points for one but i'm going to experiment to see if I still like it. I might fix it all in there but leave it disconnected one side unless i take her to a track day or similar.

I was going to try to see if i could run it softer so she rides the bumps better with the ARB connected and still maintain the handling.

As mine wont be a daily or probably even a weekly maybe monthly i have time to play and change stuff round.

Its all a bit of experimentation, if you've got the cash/time to play then get one and see how you get on with it.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Back to the subject. Yes you are right, you will be able to run softer at the rear with the ARB.

The ARB effectively increases the spring rate in roll. Whether it's right for you or not only time will tell.

On the road the mini suspension is stiff enough not to require one. But on my hillclimber I run front and rear ARBs.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph
