hey

just had my head rebuilt as the valve guides were fucked and now its all back together its not running quite rite. it seem to have a boost leak but i carnt see where it could be leaking from which is making me think it the valve seats being shit and blowing by on boost? also i dont get much - pressure before the turbo spools up.

any ideas? cheers eden

why would it be the valve seats? the seats should be re cut after the valve guides,
more likely not to have been put back together properly and leaking on the inlet
you dont get pressure without a spooled turbo either

the seat were recut and i lapped them in (but i fear i did a shit job) im 99% certain its not leaking from the manifold.

im 99% certain if it was the seats you would not even know
have a leakdown test done, only way to tell and be confident in the results
a compression test could throw up results but unless the leak is HUGE i doubt you would tell

how can i test for leaks? noob question

i would hook an air line to the manifold and block the off carb, a small amount of water/washing up liquid onto the inlet port joints look for bubles

is there anything i could spray onto the joints wen its running which would indicate the leak
