Thought it was about time I joined your forum i'm a mate of Tadge44. I also have a Turboed A35 like tadge and he said that this site is a hive of useful info.

So here's my first question.

I suspect I have a cracked exhaust manifold is this a common accurance on the cast manifolds on turbosed a series?

I have been thinking for a while now of fabricating a s/s tubular manifold if I go this route should I just copy the shape of the original or go for a different shape and what tube wall thickness and diameter should I use?

And here's a couple of pics of my austin.

Hello and welcome. There are plenty of people here who have made their own manifolds. Best thing is to have a good read.

BTW Are you coming drag racing with Dave in a couple of weeks?

Welcome. To answer your question Cracking the manifold is a rare thing but I have seen this happen on 1ltr minis and not just your monster power nutter engines that happen to gather in this darkest of corners of the inter world.

Once you are in photobucket, use the bottom choice below the photo (IMG with square brackets), and if you just click on it and then "copy" and then paste it into your thread it takes the square brackets, IMG and everything else needed with it.
Some browsers, you don't even have to do "copy", just clicking on the IMG link does it for you.

Interesting car BTW....

Somewhat more "obvious" than David's !!!

looks like you have metro master cylinders under there.

Not sure about the pink HT leads though

Yep metro cylinders in place clutch cylinder spring broke inside so changed it to an early mini /midget one and some of the fluid came out on the way to a show and knackered the new paint so am on the look out for an old master cyl to rob the spring from to put the metro one back together at some point.

Haha there not pink there red met turbo originals just a bit faded lol.

Plenum looks interesting. Do you have any fuelling issues?

Only fueling problem i've had was a bit of shit in the carb and a new filter cured that, why you ask can you see something not right if so please enlighten me as this is my first turboed motor and any pointers are greatfully received. As for the plenum I modified it myself.

I was just curious if blowing in the back of the plenum negates the function of the restrictor ring in the plenum. There is loads of topics on here about it.

PIMP! lol
welcome to TM,
john id of thought aslong as it doest blow directly through the restrictor ( by bypassing the restriction bit) it would work as nomal

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Oh i see, when i modified it i basically sat it dead opposite its original inlet so the air comes into the same part off the plenum as before, i'll see if i have a close up of the plenum and post it on here later.
